DANBURY, CT, USA – 08 July 2016. On 11 June LocWorld and KantanMT teamed up to host the Coastal Flag Challenge around Howth Peninsula, Dublin, Ireland to raise money for Translators without Borders (TWB). The hike was a resounding success thanks to TWB sponsors and supporters who raised over $6,500 for the organization.
The hike came one day after the LocWorld conference in Dublin. Almost 40 supporters persisted through the wet conditions and through the difficult hike challenges, respresenting seven TWB sponsors. The event was a welcome break from the conference halls and also a chance to get to know partners while walking in the fresh Irish sea air.
The fundraiser was organized to raise awareness of the mission of Translators without Borders which is to tackle the language challenges that hinder critical humanitarian efforts worldwide by providing translations to humanitarian nonprofits responding to crisis when the responders and those affected, do not speak the same language.
The team from KantanMT (silver sponsor of TWB) did a fantastic job in coordinating the day’s challenging yet fun activities. A power packed al fresco lunch was provide by TWB sponsors Lionbridge and in attendance we saw members from LocWorld, Vistatec, Lionbridge, Sajan, LavaCon, Multilingual Magazine, the Localization Institute, Matrix, Cisco, Riversight, Fideltec, WinTranslations, Ralph Lauren and eBay. Translators without Borders team members also joined in to wave the TWB flag high. The day concluded with a proper Irish meal accompanied by traditional Irish music at the Abbey Tavern in Howth village.
TWB would like to thank all involved for a very successful fundraising event. The awareness and funds raised were above and beyond our expectations.
