In recent years there has been a steady increase in interest and activity around innovation in the humanitarian sector.
ALNAP has carried out some research on innovation to investigate some of the questions this topic raises such as 'How can humaintarian organizations be more innovative' and 'What innovations can withstand the test of responding to crises?' Working with ELRHA, ALNAP spent the last year looking at 15 different case studies of humanitarian innovation funded by ELRHA's Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF) grants. From the findings, a first report was developed to outline what innovation in humantiarian action is, and how it can be done better. TWB's Words of Relief was chosen as one of the Case Studies for the report – Translators without Borders Local Language Translation for emergencies.
