DANBURY, CT USA – 23 June 2017. AdHoc Translations has announced that it will become a bronze sponsor of Translators without Borders (TWB). The company says it is proud to support TWB and its ongoing work to make knowledge accessible to all, through language.
US-based non-profitTranslators without Borders strives to provide people access to vital, often life-saving, information in a language they understand by, connecting non-profit organizations with a community of professional translators; building local language translation capacity; and raising awareness of language barriers. Since 2011, TWB has translated over 45 million words in 190 language pairs in the areas of crisis relief, health and education. The organization has responded to urgent crises by deploying its Words of Relief service, working with partners, to provide vital information in the appropriate languages to those affected by crises including the European refugee crisis, the Ebola emergency, and the Nepal earthquake. Words of Relief ensures better communications with communities when crisis response aid workers and affected populations do not speak the same language.
“We have chosen to sponsor Translators without Borders as we truly believe that the organization makes a difference in the world. When a crisis hits, breaking down language barriers can help save lives. TWB’s ongoing crisis response work in Greece, through its Words of Relief translation service, is a great source of inspiration for us, both personally and professionally. We want to help TWB reach its goals, and by becoming a sponsor, we are contributing to help people access health care information and appropriate treatment in their language. We can make a real difference for those in need,” said Jesper Nielsen, CEO of AdHoc Translations.
The financial support provided by sponsors is critical to sustaining and growing the organization. “In the course of our work, we’ve become aware of a huge need, which is for people in poor countries to be able to access global knowledge in their language,” explains Aimee Ansari, executive director of Translators without Borders.
AdHoc Translations has said that it is proud to support a good cause within the language industry which demonstrates that language matters.
