Welocalize increases support for Translators without Borders

May 8, 2016 by TWB Communications

DANBURY, CT, USA – 06 April 2016 – The world’s leading non-profit translation organization, Translators without Borders (TWB), is proud to announce that Welocalize, global leader in innovative translation and localization solutions, has increased its level of commitment and support to the organization. Welocalize is now a silver sponsor of Translators without Borders.

“We are incredibly grateful to Welocalize for increasing their level of support to become a silver sponsor, as help from our sponsors is critical to enable us to support more humanitarian work around the globe,” said Aimee Ansari, executive director of Translators without Borders. ”There is a huge need for people in poor countries to be able to access global knowledge in their own language and to achieve this we need the continual support of long standing sponsors, like Welocalize, to achieve this.”

In February 2016, Translators without Borders announced they had reached the major milestone of 30 million words translated into over 180 language pairs for humanitarian organizations using its web-based translator workspace and the assistance of 3,200 translators. This is the equivalent translation cost of approximately $6 million.

In 2015, 214 aid organizations received seven million translated words through 780 projects. The translation charity works to close critical language gaps that hinder humanitarian efforts worldwide by supporting the work of hundreds of aid organizations in the areas of humanitarian crisis relief, health and education.

“Welocalize has supported Translators without Borders for many years because of the charity’s ability to translate vital information into local languages for various aid organizations who are providing critical relief work when dealing with disasters and crises across the globe,” said Smith Yewell, CEO and co-founder of Welocalize. “We are honored to increase our support recognizing the humanitarian value that Translators without Borders contributes to the world.”
